MONTANA EARLY RIFLE WILDERNESS HUNTS Sept 15 to Mid October Early backcountry rifle season is a great opportunity to hunt elk during the Rut. Although Montana’s general season does not start until Late October, the Wilderness areas are open to big game hunting in September. The areas hunted are roadless and non-motorized. The camps are reached by horseback, deep into the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness area. The Outfitter Bitterroot Elk has chose to handle our clients has been in business since the early 30’s. He is located less than 7 miles form Yellowstone Park. The remoteness of the area and the location of the Outfitter will give you the opportunity to hunt in solitude. The areas see very little pressure. The terrain is forgiving, with some open parks and open timber hillsides. Elevation will run from 4500 to 7000 during the rut hunts. Hunts are limited and book early each year. The Outfitter only does 4 trips a year with 6 in each camp. This is a 7 day hunt. Everything is provided for you, including airport pick-up. You are responsible for personal gear only. The camps and food are exceptional, but even more important is the opportunity to hunt Montana’s elk during the rut, miles from civilization and other hunters.
